EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) --A huge blow Thursday morning to the Michigan State football team.
Senior linebacker and Traverse City native Max Bullough has been suspended for the remainder of the season.
That makes him ineligible to play in the Rose Bowl.
Just after midnight, Coach Mark Dantonio announced that Bullough violated team rules.
He did not say what rules Bullough broke, but said there would be no other comments made.
Bullough is a 2-time captain, and was just named third-team All-American and first-team All-Big Ten this season.
The No. 4 Spartans take on No. 5 Stanford on New Years Day.
It's State's first Rose Bowl appearance in 26 seasons.
