Events Around Northern Michigan: Breakfast with Santa, Festive Light Parade, and Pet Adoption Day

Posted: Updated:

It may seem a little early to be talking Christmas, but this weekend there are several events that just might get you in the holiday spirit.

This Saturday you can load up the kids and head to a special "Breakfast with Santa" in Cadillac. The breakfast will be at the Cadillac Grill where families can meet Santa, grab a bite to eat, and have fun with games and songs. There will also be a raffle for the adults! Tickets are $10 per person and kids under 2 eat for free with an adult. The breakfast starts at 9:00 a.m. Money raised at the event will go towards helping the Wexford Habitat for Humanity.

Later Saturday evening, Santa and Mrs. Clause will be heading down to Big Rapids to appear in the Festival of Lights Christmas Parade. The parade features trucks and floats covered in lights, live reindeer, and of course Santa and the Mrs. The parade starts at 6:00 and runs down Michigan Avenue in downtown Big Rapids. After the parade, you can stick around for a tree lighting ceremony.

And if it feels a little too early for Christmas events for you, there is also a Pet Adoption Day this weekend. If you're interested in taking home a cat or dog, head to the Family Farm and Home store in Clare this Saturday to check out some of the pets up for adoption. The event starts at 10:00 a.m. and runs until 4:00 p.m. If you're not looking to take home a pet, donations for the shelter are always welcome.
