Events Around Northern Michigan: Weekend Fundraisers

Posted: Updated:

There are tons of events every weekend in Northern Michigan and every Friday, we like to show you at least 3 of them! This weekend, we have 3 great fundraisers you can attend.

To begin with, there's an event going on this Sunday, November 10th, that breakfast lovers won't want to miss! The Glenwood Breakfast Fundraiser starts at 8:00 a.m. and goes until noon at the Glenwood Restaurant in Onekama. Breakfast is $12 per person and kids eat for free. The restaurant is offering all you can eat blueberry pancakes, cranberry walnut french toast, breakfast burritos, and several other delicious options. All the money raised at the event, including tips, will help fund playground equipment for the Arcadia Beach Playground.

And if you're not a breakfast person, or maybe Onekama is a little out of the way for you, there is another delicious fundraiser going on in northern Michigan this weekend. Luther is holding their 5th Annual Party in the Street Tailgate Chili Cookoff this Saturday, November 9th. Chili cooking starts at 10:00 a.m. on Main Street, and tasting is at 1:00 p.m. Along with a variety of tasty chilies, you can expect raffles, prizes, and even a bon fire in the middle of the street. The money raised at this event will go towards the Luther Days Association.

Last, there is a race going on in Traverse City this weekend, aimed at raising money for a 9/11 Memorial Park. Cherry Wings Realty is sponsoring the 5k Hero Run this Saturday, November 9th, at the Timber Ridge Campground. Registration for adults costs $35, $20 for kids ages 12 to 18, and runners under 12 are free. Money raised will go towards building phase 2 of the Grand Traverse 9/11 Memorial Park located behind the Grand Traverse Fire Department Administration building.
