MTM On The Road: The Island Poet

Posted: Updated:

Karl Stuber is a well known guy on Mackinac Island.

For six seasons he has a Street Sweeper on the island, working hard to clean up what the horses leave behind.

Karl has struggled to speak his entire life, his stutter sometimes makes it difficult for him to get a point across or carry on a conversation.

But he's never let it dampen his spirit, Karl was always inspired by the beauty of the island around him, so he began writing poetry after work. Today he has two books published with his original work.

He says stuttering is a gift, because it makes people slow down.

Kalin and Stephanie traveled to the island to learn Karl's incredible story.
