Food Pantries Prepare, SNAP Cuts To Happen Friday

It's a change 47 million Americans will deal with on Friday.

The Federal Government is making cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program which supplies food stamps benefits.

In Michigan, 1.7 million residents rely on these benefits to put food on their tables.

The cuts comes just in time for the holiday season, and Northern Michigan's 34 food pantries, 23 meal sites, and 7 baby pantries will likely be hit hard with a higher than normal need.

9&10's Marisa McKay and photojournalist Jared Barraco spoke to area food banks to learn how, if at all, they're preparing for an increase in foot traffic.
