Reed City Schools Cut Freshman Teams, Sports Busses

Posted: Updated:

After seeing a bit of growth over the last few years, Reed City Area Public Schools actually lost 25 students over the last year.

That means some budget cuts at the Osceola County school district as they make up for nearly $200,000 lost.

A major chunk of the savings were found in the athletic department.

The district officially did away with all freshmen sports and athletic transpiration.

Many sports didn't have freshmen teams due to lack of turnout and competition in the area so the school felt the savings were worth any potential hang ups.

9&10 News' Eric Lloyd and photojournalist Jacob Johnson spoke with the school on the cuts and have more details.
