An early morning explosion destroyed a restroom at a boat launch on National Park property in Leelanau County.

The explosion happened early Sunday morning in Cleveland Township, at the School Lake boat launch.

Deputies say the person who called 911 said the explosion shook their home.

The restroom was found destroyed nearly two miles from that man's home.

State police and FBI bomb technicians were called to the scene.

They believe a bomb was placed in or next to the bathroom, causing the blast. Destruction of government property and manufacturing of explosives are serious felony offences.

The damage is estimated to be $14,000.
