Local Reaction to Government Shutdown, Debt Deal

With the shutdown over, many people are weighing in on the recent weeks in Washington and what they believe will happen in the future.

9&10 News spoke with several people in Mt. Pleasant who said the shutdown went on too long and they're uncertain about the future.

Many on both sides of the political spectrum also said faith in the country has been jeopardized.

     Monday afternoon around 2:10 p.m. a Sheriff's Deputy assigned as a School Liaison Officer was at the Kingsley Middle School. He was approached by a teacher and informed that a student reported to her that a student at the school may have a firearm in his or her posession.

    Police have identified the 19-year-old Grand Traverse County man who died after a two car accident Saturday night. The accident happened shortly before 10:30 p.m. on Williamsburg Road near Woodcrest Lane in Whitewater Township.
