Hook and Hunting: Volunteers Wanted For Wild Turkey Habitat Improvement Project

Posted: Updated:

Volunteers are wanted to help improve a turkey habitat in Otsego County this weekend.

The National Wild Turkey Federation began growing crabapple trees almost two years ago to plant on public land in Gaylord.

Now, the DNR and Michigan United Conservation Club are looking for help to plant more than 130 of these trees.

The DNR says planting these trees will benefit the turkey populations and other species as well.

The event is part of an initiative to improve public hunting access around the country.
