Police Find Homemade Bottle Bomb At Resale Shop

Posted: Updated:

A small explosion created a big scare at an Emmet County second hand store.

State police were called to Challenge Mountain Resale Shop in Petoskey just after the incident.

As a precaution, police blocked off part of US-31 and asked customers to stay in the store while they searched the area.

They found a homemade bottle bomb.

They believe some kids threw it at the store as a prank.

Store volunteers say it sounded like gunshots, and are thankful no one was hurt.

Police say pranks like this are common this time of year.

But they could also be very dangerous depending on what kind of ingredients are inside and where they are placed.
