The Salute Seen Around The World

This simple, stunning image is enough to leave a lasting impact.

It's the moment a wounded soldier comes out of a coma, and salutes his superior officer.

An amazing gesture by a true American hero, being called the "salute seen around the world."

Corporal Josh Hargis was injured in action in Afghanistan.

The attack killed four other members of his Ranger team.

Lying in a hospital bed, Hargis' commanding office thanks him for his service and awards him the Purple Heart.

To everyone's surprise, Hargis then raised his arm in salute.

The Army Ranger is now on the road to recovery and heading home to his wife.
