Sheriff Says Volatile Materials Were Destroyed In Leelanau County

SUTTONS BAY, Mich. (AP) -- A Northern Michigan Sheriff says hazardous materials were destroyed during last week's search of properties in Leelanau County. 

Sheriff Make Borkovich confirmed that authorities went to a remote location to destroy materials that were deemed volatile and dangerous. 

The FBI is handling the investigation and will not comment at this time. 

Agents also searched also occurred in Houston and Bryan, Texas. The FBI is not saying whether the searches are related. 

All properties searched are owned by a Houston art appraiser.
