UPDATE: Mackinac Co. Deputies Release Names From High Speed Chase

UPDATE: November 11

Deputies are now naming the men arrested.

Officers were called about a gas theft around 8:00 Thursday morning in Naubinway.
Officers arrested the driver Levi Hamilton, from Fremont, on charges including attempting to flee or elude police, possession of a stole vehicle, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, larceny of gas, reckless driving, and license plate violation. 

Vance Demorset, from Cedar Springs faces charges of attempting to flee or elude police, possession of a stolen vehicle, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and larceny of gas. 

Each are held on $20,000 bonds.

A 16-year-old with them was turned over to juvenile court.

November 10

Three people are in custody after driving off in a stolen car in Mackinac County. 

The incident began when deputies were called to a larceny of gas from a station in Naubinway around 8:00 AM. 

A short time later, deputies spotted the suspected vehicle on US-2 near Gould City. 

The vehicle pulled over for police until the officer approached the car. The vehicle took off quickly, reaching speeds over 100 miles per hour for more than 11 miles. 

The chase ended when the vehicle did not make a turn at a "T" intersection and crashed. No one was injured the crash.

Two passengers fled into the woods, while the driver was arrested immediately by the Mackinac County deputy. 

Back-up was called, including a K-9 unit from Michigan State Police. The K-9 was able to locate the two people who ran off. 

Two adult men and one underage woman from western lower Michigan are in custody. 

Police say charges will include possession of a stole vehicle, attempting to flee and elude police, reckless driving, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
