Annual Chimney Sweeps Help To Prevent Chimney Fires

Posted: Updated:

As the temperatures cool down more people will light their fireplace or wood stove to stay warm, but there are some safety tips to keep in mind.

A clean chimney is a great way to avoid a chimney fire and chimney sweeping can help.

Experts at Positive Chimney in Cadillac say people should have their chimney checked every year for damage and to clean creosote buildup which can lead to chimney fires.

Shiny creosote and smoke backup can be indicators that you need to have your chimney cleaned.

To help extend the use of your chimney, it's important to use seasoned wood and not green wood.

Positive Chimney says creosote logs can be helpful, but your chimney still should be inspected annually.
