Camp Grayling Calls Back Furloughed Workers

Posted: Updated:

Some federal employees in northern Michigan went back to work today but they still do not know when they will be paid.

Camp Grayling called back all of the 19 military technicians furloughed because of the partial government shutdown.

The post commander says he got word from the Secretary of Defense this weekend that they could call the technicians back.

"He and his attorneys looked at our Pay Our Military Act and saw that it was a little bit ability to bring people back," said Colonel Erich Randall.

The colonel says these employees could be furloughed again if funding is not restored.

One technician told us she is supposed to be paid on October 17th but is already working to make arrangement with her creditors in case that does not happen.

Kyle Mitchell and Photojournalist Jacob Johnson have more on the government shutdown and how it is affecting Camp Grayling.
