Washington (AP) -- It's not just American children not measuring up to international counterparts.
Global test results say US adults are lagging behind in reading, math, and problem solving as well.
Adults in Japan, Canada, Australia, Finland and other countries scored significantly higher than Americans.
Beyond basic reading and math, people were tested on activities like calculating mileage reimbursement, sorting mail and comparing food expiration dates.
Researchers say all this data also shows how big the gap is between the nation's high and low-skilled workers.
