DNR Predicts Good Deer Hunting Season In Michigan

Posted: Updated:

LANSING, Mich. (AP) -- The DNR says deer hunters should have a fairly successful season this year, but there could be a few minor set backs.

The DNR says some areas may see lower numbers of deer after severe winter weather, including heavy snow and a late thaw.

Hunting in the Lower Peninsula could be effected by epizootic hemorrhagic disease.

The disease is spread by insects to deer and causes internal bleeding.  The disease is not a threat to humans.

So far the outbreak has only been reported in Muskegon County.
