UPDATE: Police Reconstructing Cheboygan Co. Chase, Crashes

Posted: Updated:

Investigators are working to put together pieces of a deadly police chase that occurred Thursday.

Police tried to pull over Benjamin Bunker in Tuscarora Township but he did not stop.

When the chase led to the intersection of Club and White roads, Bunker went one way and the police another.

Bunker crashed his car less than a mile away and died at the scene.

Police officers crashed their patrol car and were taken to the hospital and released that night.

The Cheboygan County Sheriff's Accident Reconstruction Team is working to determine the cause of both of the crashes.

The sheriff says the roads where the crashes happened were dirt, making it easier to lose control especially at such high speeds and with low visibility.

The speed determinations will most likely be made within a few days while toxicology reports may take three to six weeks.
