Multiple Northern MI Counties Experiencing 911 Service Outage

Posted: Updated:

Otsego, Montmorency, Roscommon, Oscoda, Alpena, and Presque Isle counties have no 911 service right now.

The cities of Alger and Sterling in Arenac County are also without service.

If there is an emergency, people should go to the nearest fire or police station for help.

State of Michigan 911 Committee is working closely with the counties to troubleshoot how to get the system back up and running.

According to the State 911 Administrator, the outage is because a fiber line was cut between Saginaw and Roscommon, and it only effects the 989 area code. Crews are working to resolve the issue.

9&10 News has a crew headed to the affected area to get more information.
