Fallen Trooper Remembered at Vigil

Posted: Updated:

The community of Manistee gathered tonight to pay their respects, and remember, Trooper Paul Butterfield.

Trooper Butterfield not only lived in Manistee, but worked there for many years.

His absence has certainly impacted the community.

Two women who didn't even know Paul Butterfield organized the vigil.

Many wore blue, lit candles, and sang "Amazing Grace."

A fellow trooper said Paul would have appreciated the large turnout

Memories of Paul were shared by those that knew him well, and others who just met him in passing.

Those that never got the opportunity to meet him said they felt as though it was important to come out and honor him.

9 & 10's Meredith Barack and photojournalist Jared Barraco were at the candlelight vigil.
