We now know the charges that Trooper Butterfield's suspected shooter faces.

Eric and Sarah Knysz were arrested after Butterfield was shot and killed Monday evening.

Eric faces charges for homicide murder of a police officer, firearm felony, weapons carry concealed, unlawfully driving away in a motor vehicle, and for being a habitual offender.

Sarah will faces charges for accessory after a crime and driving away in a motor vehicle.

A trooper killed in the line of duty, 9&10 News Team continues to follow every new detail of Monday night's deadly shooting in Mason County.

We have a crew at the press conference in Rockford. 

As we've been reporting since it broke Monday night, Michigan State Police Trooper Paul Butterfield of the Hart Post was shot in the head while making a traffic stop near Freesoil.

The shooter took off after firing the shot.

Police tracked the car to the Dublin story in Wellston in Manistee County two hours later.

Police say shots were fired between officers and the suspects, one of the suspects was shot.

Police arrested 2 people, Eric and Sarah Knysz.

Trooper Butterfield later died while undergoing emergency surgery.

Police used information from Trooper Butterfield's conversation with Central Dispatch and a driver passing by to identify a vehicle.
Trooper Butterfield joined the Michigan State Police in 1999 and served at the Manistee and Hart posts. 

He is also a veteran of the US Army.
