CMU Students, Faculty Look Back at "I Have a Dream" Speech

Fifty years ago today, Dr. Martin Luther King stood on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial and addressed more than a quarter of a million people during the March on Washington.

The civil rights movement had begun years before but Dr. King's speech catapulted the push for change.

Today, many black students and professors thank the work of Dr. King and point to that speech as a turning point that gives them the opportunities today.

Much progress has been made since the speech but there is still much more work to do.

9&10 News' Eric Lloyd was on the Central Michigan University campus and has more details.
