Cheboygan Humane Society To Raise Money Skydiving

Posted: Updated:

It started as a conversation about fundraising for the Cheboygan Humane Society and ended with a big surprise.

Tuesday, the shelter updated the county's board of commissioners on their fundraising efforts.

That's when they were presented with a $10,000 donation from Tony and Roberta Matelski.

The shelter in Cheboygan got a donation from the Matelski's when it went through a round of renovations last year.

This donation will go toward a $200,000 goal to update kennels and other facilities.

Built in 1975, the director says the Humane Society was initially more of an impound.

But now, animals are kept longer, and many upgrades need to be made.

This Saturday, August 31, 26 people will jump out of planes to raise money for the Humane Society.

It will be at the Harbor Springs Airport, and include the couple who made the donation, and Cheboygan County Sheriff Dale Clarmont.
