Northern Michigan Hospital X-Rays Possible Shipwreck Artifact

Posted: Updated:

A possible shipwreck artifact was X-rayed today at a Northern Michigan hospital.

A team of divers removed a wooden beam from Lake Michigan this summer and believe it's part of the Griffin, a ship that's been missing for centuries.

They hope the CT Scan will tell them how old the beam is, which could lead them to identifying if it came from the Griffin.

This was the first time Otsego Memorial Hospital ever scanned something other than a person.

The images are now being sent to Cornell University where they will investigate the wooden beam.
