Mt. Pleasant Reaps Boost From Student Return

Posted: Updated:

For a town of about 24 thousand year round residents, the influx of about 20,000 more students brings a boom in business with the over-crowding.

Classes at Central Michigan University begin on Monday but students are in the process of moving to Mt. Pleasant right now.

Everything from restaurants to party stores to taxi services circle welcome weekend as the start of their busy season.

These shops see the boost in traffic and nearly double their staffs in order to keep up.

It's just part of living in a major college town.

9&10 News' Eric Lloyd looked into the student boost and has more details.
