Blueberry Farmers Thrilled With Season Crop

Posted: Updated:

This summer's weather helped create a bumper crop of blueberries.

The season is coming to an end with the bushes nearly picked dry.

Double L Farms in Wexford County says they needed this year to be a booming crop.

Carolyn Lucas, owner of Double L Farms says, "Last year we lost probably half the field due to the weather because we got the late frost and then it was so hot and dry, this year its been hot and dry but we've been able to keep up with the watering a little easier this year so we've had a bumper crop this year."

Their bushes are so full, they've been offering U-Pick all summer. Not only is their U-Pick farm busy but also their stand at the local farmers market.

They hope to have their U-Pick open for one more week. They are located on South 31 Road in Cadillac, you can visit their Facebook page at the link above.

9&10's Katie Boomgaard has more details on why farmer's are not blue about this summer.
