Thursday's Feedback at 5:00:

Senator Rick Jones plans to introduce legislation next month to boost the speed limits. He says state police have advised him that many highways in Michigan can handle 75-80 MPH speed limits.

Michigan State Police work with M-DOT to determine speed limits. If their speed studies reveal 85% of drivers are going faster than the speed limit they will go with that speed, as long as the road has the engineering and line of sight necessary.

However, in Michigan the maximum limit cannot legally pass 70MPH.
