UPDATE: 4 Vehicle Accident Closes Grand Traverse Co. Intersection

Police have updated the series of events and released the names of the people involved in the four-car accident in Grand Traverse County Thursday.

Curtis Prohaska of St. Johns was hospitalized with a critical head injury. His current condition was not released. 

Michael Wear of Beulah struck the back of the car driven by Prohaska who had almost come to a stop behind Scott Bishop's vehicle, of Traverse City, on Secor Road at West Silver Lake Road in Garfield Township.

Prohaska continued into the intersection, crashing with the car driven by Alexis DeGabrielle of Traverse City.

Grand Traverse County Police continue to investigate the accident.

Details of the accident have been released by the Grand Traverse Sheriff's Office.

Thursday morning, a blue Chevy pickup truck was stopped at the stop sign on Secor Rd at West Silver Lake Rd.  

An eastbound blue Pontiac minivan traveling on Secor Rd crashed into the rear of the stopped Chevy pickup.

The minivan continued traveling east into West Silver Lake Rd and collided with a northbound blue Jeep.  The minivan slid east over the embankment. 

The Jeep was struck by a red GMC Jimmy traveling southbound on West Silver Lake Rd.

Each vehicle had one occupant. Everyone was wearing a seatbelt. 

Airbags deployed in the minivan and the Jeep.

Police say Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this accident. 

The driver of the Pontiac minivan, a 23 year old man from Beulah, was transported to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Jeep, a 33 year old man from St. Johns, was also transported to the hospital. He is listed in critical condition with a serious head injury.

The other two drivers were not injured.

The accident remains under investigation.

The intersection of W. Silver Lake Road and Secor is now open.

Police have closed down the intersection of West Silver Lake and Secor Roads while they work to clean up the scene of a 4 vehicle accident.

Traffic is currently being re-routed in 2 separate locations.

Northbound traffic on West Silver Lake Road is being diverted down Boone Road to Bass Lake Road, and Southbound traffic is being re-directed at the intersection of West and East Silver Lake Roads.

The West Silver Lake and Secor Road intersection is expected to be closed for several hours while deputies investigate and clean up the scene.

No more information is being released at this time.
