Central Michigan University's College of Medicine is officially up and running
64 students were chosen from a pool of nearly 2,800 applicants to be the first class to enter the new, state of the art college in Mount Pleasant.
Most of the students are from Michigan.
The school aims to prepare them to stay here and help fill the holes areas like Northern Michigan see because of doctor shortages.
CMU shaped their curriculum to focus on preparing students for small town clinics, meaning they know their stuff but are also personable from day one.
Next year, the school will accept 104 students and already expect the applicant pool to grow towards 5000.
