Weather Conditions Ideal for Fueling Grass Fires

Posted: Updated:

It was a hot and dry day in northern Michigan, ideal conditions for a wildfire.

One grass fire in Wexford County grew quickly before firefighters put it out along US-131.

They're hoping they don't see any more the rest of the week.

The DNR says the fire danger today reached critical levels.

They had crews at each one of their stations, in the event a wildfire ignited.

The DNR says they are not currently issuing any burn permits.

9 & 10's Meredith Barack and photojournalist Jeff Blakeman checked on the fire in Wexford County and have more on what fueled it.
