Bear Sent to Lansing For DNA Testing. Results To Come Soon

Posted: Updated:

We have an update tonight on a story we've been following since it broke.

DNA results are expected soon from a bear recently killed not far from where a girl was attacked.

The bear attack  happened Thursday night, August 15, near Pine Knoll Drive and 30 3/4 Roads in Haring Township.

Over the weekend, a man shot a bear just two miles from where the attack happened, saying he feared for his own safety.

But it may not be the same one that attacked Abby Wetherell.

Right now the bear is in Lansing for DNA testing to see if this animal is connected to Abby's attack. The results should be in by Friday at the latest.
