UPS Cargo Plane Crashes In Alabama

Posted: Updated:

From a fireball, to a charred cargo casing,  one UPS plane is still smoking in some spots after crashing into a field near an Alabama airport, killing two people inside.

The victims are the pilot and the co-pilot, the only people on board the Airbus A-300.  It's still not clear why the jet came down.

The impact of the crash rattled homes and sent wreckage flying.

One woman who lives near the airport says she was in bed before dawn when she heard what sounded like engines sputtering as the plane went over her house.

A man who lives directly across from the runway, says he heard the plane, and could see flames seconds before it crashed.

UPS says the plane was carrying a variety of cargo.
