Senators Carl Levin and Debbie Stabenow announced Wednesday that the Selma Township Fire Department will receive a federal grant to improve safety and operations.
The fire department will receive about $35,000 from the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program.
"Every day, firefighters stand ready to protect lives and property in their community," said Sen. Levin. "This grant will help support the Selma Township Fire Department so they can continue their vital mission of keeping their community safe."
Senator Stabenow said, "Across Michigan, our firefighters provide courageous service to communities like Selma Township. This grant makes sure they have the resources they need to perform their duties safely and protect the public."
The grant will help Selma Fire Department in many ways including training, wellness and fitness programs and equipment, firefighting gear, building improvements, and supplies.
