A first of it's kind report on nursing home care in the US says Michigan has some work to do.

It focuses on the citations nursing homes have gotten from various agencies that inspect them.

But a local ombudsman who read through this study, says highlighting areas of improvement and setting a higher standard, may not be a bad thing.

9 & 10's Marisa McKay and photojournalist Jeremy Erickson spoke to local advocacy groups, an ombudsman, and a long term care facility to find out what Northern Michigan is doing to keep quality care a top priority.
