Traverse City Narcotics Team Investigation Leads to Northern Michigan Suppliers

After a four year investigation, the Traverse City Narcotics Team (TNT) has found the people responsible for supplying cocaine and heroin to Northern Michigan.

The case began in February 2009.  TNT Detectives were involved in a controlled purchase of cocaine at a home in Grand Traverse County.

But TNT continued the investigation by interviewing credible witnesses over the next 3 years, and built a case in partnership with the FBI.

On August 8, 2012, three Grand Rapids suspects were charged with conspiracy to distribute cocaine and heroin. The men charged were Jerry Boss, Marcus Zolicoffer, and Xavier Libbett.

Police believe that these three suspects were responsible for supplying the majority of cocaine and heroin to Northern Michigan between 2008 and 2013.

9 & 10's Marisa McKay and photojournalist Jeremy Erickson spoke to police who say in cases like this one, getting the federal government involved will lead to harsher sentencing, and ensure people dealing this quantity of drugs get off the streets.
