Sights and Sounds: Bees on Sunflowers

Posted: Updated:

A sunflower gets its name because of a mature flower center, and its petals actually look like the sun.

Photojournalist Stephanie Adkins stopped just off US-10 west of Evart to capture this beautiful field of sunflowers.

Bees were also busy collecting pollen in the numerous florets crowded together in the center of the flower which will eventually mature into new sunflower seeds.
