Manton Man Arrested for Beating Woman

Posted: Updated:

In the morning on Sunday, July 28, 2013, Cadillac troopers responded to a call from a 23-year-old woman with severe head and facial injuries.

She had attended a social event with a 23-year-old man, Daniel Raney Jr., whom she knew. After the event, the man gave the woman a ride home.

Raney drove down back roads and unexpectedly stopped the car, pulled her from her seat and began to beat her.

The woman was unable to escape or call for help.

Raney began to drive her home, and stopped again to beat the woman.

They eventually made it back to her house, where Raney threatened a family member of the woman before fleeing just minutes before troopers arrived.

The woman was transported to Mercy Hospital in Cadillac. She was treated and released Monday morning.

Wexford County Deputies located Raney and arrested him. He has been charged with 3 felonies.  His court hearing is on July 29, 2013.
