Mackinac Bridge Toll Stays at 2012 Rates

Posted: Updated:

The Mackinac Bridge Authority (MBA) voted to keep toll rates at the 2012 prices in 2014.

The Board reviewed financial data and decided to postpone all toll increases for at least one year. The prices will be re-evaluated in late 2014.

In 2007, MBA Board meeting implemented incremental toll increases from 2008 through 2013.

2013 toll revenues will help the Board review and determine potential rate increases in sessions in late 2014.

The Mackniac Bridge Authority has created outstanding efficiencies in reduced energy consumption, administrative costs, electronic tolling and more.  These efficiencies have allowed the MBA to delay the planned 2014 toll increases for one more year.

The 56-year-old Mackinac Bridge is maintained, and continues to operate, exclusively with toll revenue.
