Feedback at 5:00: Punishing Children's Crimes

Posted: Updated:

Southfield police say they caught a 12-year-old boy red handed as he tried to rob a bank of America.

It happened just before 3 a.m. after the surveillance company called them.

Police say the child rode his bike to the bank and set off an alarm.

That's when the security company spotted him walking around inside.

Video shows officers walking him to the cruiser.

He's accused of collecting rolled coins and cash from a teller's drawer.

Police say when he was detained the boy was very calm and more concerned about the snacks he had taken with him to the bank.

He was turned over to his mother.

For tonight's Feedback at 5:00 we asked how you think children this age should be punished for crimes.
