Reward Jumps to Nearly $50,000 in TC Deadly Hit & Run Search

Posted: Updated:

As family, friends and a community prepared to remember Kelly Hurlbert, more money was being offered as a reward in the case.

Traverse City Police say the reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect in the deadly hit and run hit nearly $50,000 on Thursday.

Wayne Lobdell owner of several restaurants in the United States, two of which Kelly has worked for, donated $10,000 Thursday afternoon through the Traverse City State Bank reward fund.

Lobdell is the latest donor, but before him several organizations and anonymous donors gave money towards the reward. Quarter After Entertainment and Graceland Fruit were two other businesses that stepped up.

Hurlbert was killed early Friday morning while riding her bicycle on Washington Street in Traverse City. An SUV or truck hit her and dragged her for over a block.

Police are now working to follow up on more than 200 tips.

The Detectives assigned to the case can be reached at 231-995-5152 or you may remain anonymous by calling 231-947-TIPS (8477)
