Tanker Turned On It's Side Spills A Small Amount of Gas

Posted: Updated:

Seven residences were evacuated after tank tipped over and leaked a small, unknown amount of gas.

A semi-tanker hauling about 13,000 gallons of gas tipped on it's side in Isabella county when the driver tried to make a turn onto Coe Road.

The driver was headed northbound on Wise Road before turning too sharply forcing the passenger side tires of the rear axle into the ditch.

The weight of the tank tipped onto it's side.

Gasoline spilled from the pressure relief valves.

Police say residences were evacuated near the scene for several hours due to fire and explosion hazards.

An environmental clean-up company was called in to help before the tanker was turned back on it's wheels.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident, and nobody was injured.
