UPDATE: Teen Killed in Kalkaska County Crash

Posted: Updated:

A teenage girl is dead following a crash on Ingersoll Road in Kalkaska County's Garfield Township.

Deputies say 15-year-old Stormi Elkins was driving east on Ingersoll road around 2:00 A.M. when she couldn't handle the curve. The vehicle went off the road and hit several trees before stopping in waist deep water on the edge of Ingersoll Lake.

Elkins was killed on impact. Three others inside the vehicle were taken to the hospital for serious injuries. One of the victims crawled out of the vehicle and walked about 1 mile to a neighborhood house and called 9-1-1.

The accident is still under investigation.

Funeral arrangements for Stormi Elkins have been made. A viewing will be held Sunday, July 7th from 3 PM to 8 PM at the Kalkaska Funeral Home. Her funeral will be held Monday, July 8th at 11 AM at Evergreen Bible Baptist Church in Kalkaska.

9 & 10's Meredith Barack and photojournalist Jake Johnson have more on the crash and the young life that was lost.
