UPDATE: Police Are Still Searching For Hit and Run Suspect

Posted: Updated:

Police are still searching for the driver that hit a and killed Kelly Hurlbert July 5th.

The suspect responsible for her death is still no where to be found.

Kelly Hurlbert was riding her bike on Washington Street early Friday morning in Traverse City.

She was struck by a vehicle and died from her injuries.

Yesterday police processed 75 tips from the public.

Today more than 118 more were investigated.

Friends of Hurlbert are offering a $20,000 reward for information that could lead to an arrest of those responsible.

Anyone with information is asked to call the anonymous Silent Observer tip line or the Traverse City Police Detective Bureau with information.

Today 9 & 10's Marisa McKay and photojournalist Jeremy Erickson spoke with the 911 Central Dispatch Center to learn how the center is dealing with the large number of calls.

Police are still searching for the driver that hit a bicyclist and killed her on July 5th.

After interviewing witnesses, police are now saying that the vehicle was either a silver SUV or a dark colored SUV or truck.

Originally, a witness had said they saw a dark colored SUV or truck hit Kelly Boyce as she was riding her bike.

The broadened focus comes after police received more information regarding a silver SUV.

Police are asking anyone with information on the incident to contact the Traverse City Police Department.

If you know anybody who may have been traveling on or near Washington Street early Friday morning, you should also contact police.

Today 9&10's Marisa McKay and photojournalist Jeremy Erickson spoke to police and a man who had a similar scary experience while on his bike. They have the latest on this ongoing investigation.

A big reward is now being offered for a hit and run last week.

$10,000 is on the table for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who hit and killed Kelly Boyce Hurlbert last week.

Kelly was riding her bike on Washington Street in Traverse City around 2:00 Friday morning.

A dark colored SUV hit her and dragged her about a block and a half before she died.

Police say someone knows who this person is, and they're asking anyone with any information to please come forward.

The silent observer is offering a separate reward of up to $2,500.

A bicyclist died after getting hit by a vehicle from behind.

Traverse City Police say it happened around 2:00 this morning near Washington and Railroad Streets.

There, they found 29 year old Kelly Boyce Hurlbert of Traverse City lying near the alley. She was taken to Munson where she later died.

Witnesses say a dark colored SUV or truck, traveling in the same direction, hit Hurlbert from behind. Police believe the woman was then dragged by the vehicle for one and a half blocks.

9&10's Eric Lloyd and photojournalist Tony Zyber chased the story all day and now have more details.
