Yankee Lady Makes Stop At Pellston Regional Airport

Posted: Updated:

A major attraction just flew into one Emmet County airport.

The airplane, known as the Yankee Lady, is a restored World War II Boeing B-17 heavy bomber.

It's one of only nine forts still flying.

The flying fortress is based at the Willow Run Airport downstate, but is spending the weekend at the Pellston Regional Airport.

Saturday and Sunday, the Yankee Lady will be open for tours.

The pilots and crew are also taking people up for rides.

A walk-through tour is $5 for adults aged 15 and up; $2 for kids aged 6-15 and all others are free.

A ride costs $425.

Donations collected directly support the B-17.
