Police, botanists, and volunteers have wrapped up the search for a certain plants that might be able to lead them to baby Katherine Phillips' body.

The search wrapped up before 7 p.m. on Friday on the northern side of Mason County.

Law enforcement decided to conduct a search after finding specific kinds of plants on the bottom of Sean Phillips' shoes.

Phillips is Baby Kate's father, who is in jail for unlawful imprisonment.

Baby Kate disappeared on June 29, 2011.

Police are hopeful that since it is almost exactly 2 years to the day, the same plants Phillips would have walked through will be in bloom, ultimately leading them to Baby Kate.

According to Ludington Police, Friday's search went well and as scheduled.

The search will resume on Saturday morning at 8 a.m.

Samples collected from the search will be analyzed by experts and their findings will be placed in a report to be reviewed by investigators.
