Mecosta County Man Facing Life in Prison For Hiring Hit Man

Posted: Updated:

Police say a Mecosta County man looking for someone to kill his wife asked the wrong person.

It's an investigation fairly rare, and it may have prevented someone's death.

Bryan Crowley of Barryton is accused of asking someone to kill his estranged wife.

The Mecosta County Sheriff's Department received information that Crowley was asking around for someone to kill his wife. An undercover police officer made plans to meet Crowley.

"The arrangements were made to harm the victim and then ultimately the suspect asked the police officer to kill and dispose of the victim," says Detective Sergeant Gary Green, Michigan State Police Mount Pleasant Post.

With enough evidence in hand, police arrested Crowley yesterday during a traffic stop and he was charged today.

Crowley was charged with 4 counts; 1 count of solicitation of murder, 1 count solicitation of kidnapping, 1 count solicitation of home invasion 1st degree, and 1 count of solicitation of a controlled substance of less than 50 grams of Cocaine. If convicted he could face up to life in prison.
