Supreme Court Agrees to Hear Northern Michigan Casino Controversy Case

Posted: Updated:

The Supreme Court has a lot on their plate right now, and today, they agreed to hear an appeal that hits a little closer to home.

The court will decide whether the Bay Mills Indian Community's casino can be closed by a judge.

This comes after a state official said they can order the casino in Vanderbilt to close since it is not on tribal land.

A federal judge agreed and closed the casino in 2011, but an appeals court reversed the ruling last year.

The justices will hear arguments in the fall.
