Beal City loses extra-inning classic in D-4 Baseball Final

Posted: Updated:

BATTLE CREEK - For baseball fans it was a thrilling game.  For Beal City players it was a heartbreaking way to end the season.

The Aggies lost again to Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett.  This time 3-2 in 8 Innings at the Division 4 State Final.

Four of the five runs in the game were scored because of errors and the Aggies left 14 runners on base.

Beal City got on the board first.  It came in the 5th Inning when the Knights made an error on a hit by Chase Rollin.  Joe Rau scored the run.

Down a run with two outs in the final frame, the Aggies Nick Hoogerhyde forced a bases loaded walk to tie it up at 2.  The Aggies Ty Rollin struck out to leave the bases loaded and force extras.

In the 8th Inning, an errant pickoff attempt allowed the Knights to score what would hold up as the winning run.

Beal City finished the season with 35 wins and 3 losses.  Two of those defeats came at the hands of the Knights.
