Traverse City Light and Power Wind Turbine Running Again

Posted: Updated:

After months of technical problems one of Michigan's oldest wind turbines used by a power company is running once again.

The Traverse City Light and Power Turbine on M-72 in Elmwood Township was first installed in 1996.

Crews put in a 38,000 dollar part in January but the turbine stopped working just two days later.

With the latest repairs, the turbine could last for six or more years. It produces enough energy to power 110 homes each year.
