Century-Old Building Destroyed in Grayling Business Fire

Posted: Updated:

A fire has destroyed a family business, everything inside, and decades of work and history.

The fire started just before 2 p.m. at Moshier's Auto Repair in Grayling, which is not far from the I-75 business loop.

Crews were at the fire for hours, battling hotspots and monitoring the scene.

The owner of the business was inside when the fire started, and says a neighbor called 9-1-1 and then warned him to get out.

He made it out okay, but cars, equipment, and tools were lost in the fire.

Many say while it's sad to see the family-business go, it's the deep-rooted history behind it that makes the situation even sadder.

9 & 10's Meredith Barack and photojournalist Jeff Blakeman spoke to the owner about the building's long history.

Flames have started up again in the garage portion of the building.

9&10's Meredith Barack is on the scene and is continuing to update us with the latest information.

9&10 News is working on gathering information on a fire in Crawford county.

Crews are still on the scene of a fire in Grayling.

The fire started at the former Moshier's Sales and Service around 1:45 this afternoon.

The owner was inside the building when the fire started, but was unaware until another person saw the fire and called 9-1-1.

He made it out safely.

The owner says he works part time on the weekends, and other people in the area say that the family owned business has been around for a long time.

We have a crew on the scene right now and are working to bring you more information.
